Overview

  • Maersk has big plans for logistics and services.
  • There is a new opening for Head of Claims for IMEA reporting to Global Head of Claims in Copenhagen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor customer cargo claims across Ocean and Logistics, including key clients.
  • Support the Global Claims Hub on complex or sensitive cases, including acting as an escalation point.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and lead litigation matters.
  • Support the integration of newly acquired businesses into Maersk’s claims structure.
  • Provide guidance, feedback, and support to direct reports.
  • Support recovery processes against vendors led by the Global Claims Hub, and engage with insurers.
  • Support the Head of Claims Operations in performance management of the Global Claims Hub IMEA team.
  • Deliver periodic claims training to internal stakeholders.
  • Support Legal, Procurement, and Commercial teams in reviewing contracts for claims related clauses.
  • Engage the Global Head of Claims and relevant senior stakeholders on high exposure or sensitive cases.
  • Contribute to and propose regional initiatives aligned to global Claims priorities.
  • Drive process improvements and simplification across the Claims function.

We’re looking for

  • Essential: Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in claims or legal roles within the maritime or logistics industry.
  • Essential: Qualification as a lawyer or equivalent senior claims expertise.
  • Essential: Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a global team, with strong English communication skills.
  • Essential: Broad knowledge of legal and claims related matters across the IMEA region.
  • Essential: Experience working in matrix environments, with the ability to influence across stakeholders.
  • Essential: A commercial, solutions oriented approach.
  • Preferred: Experience collaborating across global and regional teams.
  • Preferred: Experience contributing to organisational or process transformation initiatives.
  • Preferred: Exposure to digital tools and data driven approaches within claims or risk management.
  • Preferred: Experience within logistics or supply chain environments.
  • Preferred: Fluency in French.
