Hatchery Worker

API is a proud supporter of the poultry industry, providing feed, chicks, and fresh eggs year around to our customers throughout Atlantic Canada.

The Hatchery Worker is responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of the Hatchery equipment and building as well as the removal of chicks from hatchers and transfer of eggs from setters to hatchers.

The Hatchery Worker will be responsible for boxing eggs and egg transfers.

The work schedule for this position is a rotation that includes weekends, averaging 40 hours per week.

The individual must be able to work flexible hours, including some holidays, on-call as needed.

• Sorting and handling day old chicks humanely
• Loading and handling eggs for hatching
• Assist with Embrex vaccination
• Transporting eggs throughout the hatchery
• Clean and disinfect equipment using appropriate methods (high pressure, mop, washer, etc.)
• General cleaning and setting up of equipment and rooms.
• Box eggs and egg transfers
• Provide an environment free of animal cruelty, abuse and/or neglect for our poultry
• Protect the organization’s value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential
• Practice bio security protocol.
• Follow all safety processes and procedures
• All other duties as assigned
