Hardware Technician I

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain broad knowledge of deployed mining systems and act as an escalation point for technical issues.
• Define and review project proposals and plans, including project phases, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Deploy mining systems efficiently and coordinate project activities, progress monitoring, and problem resolution.
• Load configurations, upgrades, and operating systems onto field equipment and servers under change management procedures.
• Maintain service agreements, project databases, deployed-system records, and configuration information.
• Write computer programs, enter data, and back up data as required.
• Identify business risks, inefficiencies, issues, and opportunities related to business applications.
• Monitor new market solutions and recommend improvements to the project cycle.
• Maintain effective relationships with customers, managers, technicians, engineers, and project staff.
• Improve the quality of systems, installations, support procedures, and technical team outcomes.
• Follow QHSE, ethics, compliance, health, safety, and customer-site rules and report noncompliance.
• Work in office and site environments, including heights and challenging heat, noise, and dust conditions.

Skills and Experience

• Experience applying technology in a harsh industrial environment.
• Analytical troubleshooting skills and customer-oriented service skills.
• Knowledge of general network infrastructure and configuration.
• Technical communication skills suited to customers with varying levels of technical competency.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively and to build empathetic customer relationships.
• Technical documentation, safety management, and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to rapidly understand technical solutions, concepts, and products.

Educational Background

• N6 with trade test, national diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent foreign qualification in computer, mining, electrical, electronic, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• At least two years of mining industry experience or experience in hardware installation and maintenance or a related occupation.
• Fluency in English is required; French is an added advantage.
• Experience working with remote teams is highly desirable.

Travel and Site Conditions

• The role requires occasional weekend work and travel to different customer sites, including sites outside the country.
• A current passport, valid driver's license, and successful background check are required.
• Work may involve mine-site rules, working at heights, heat, noise, dust, and other challenging environmental conditions.
