Forward Deployment Engineer (m/f/d)

Role Overview

AI Solution Development

• Design, build, deploy, and improve enterprise-grade agentic AI applications.
• Develop AI agents with reasoning, tool and API orchestration, context management, exception handling, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation with ingestion, embeddings, vector search, grounding, and source traceability.
• Integrate AI systems with enterprise platforms through MCP, REST APIs, OpenAPI, webhooks, and event-driven architectures.
• Create reusable AI services and interfaces across business domains.
• Apply LLM engineering practices such as tool calling, schema validation, retries, fallbacks, and guardrails.

Quality, Reliability, and Governance

• Own testing, evaluation, observability, logging, version control, and feedback mechanisms from inception through operation.
• Optimize reliability, accuracy, performance, security, latency, and cost.
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, access controls, auditability, responsible AI, and governance requirements.

Technical Leadership

• Own business outcomes and establish reusable patterns, frameworks, and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product owners, AI architects, and engineering teams while assessing when AI is appropriate.
• Define technical direction, architecture standards, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Design multi-agent systems, agent communication patterns, and evaluation frameworks.
• Lead external AI provider engagements and mentor engineers through technical reviews.

Core Requirements

• 8+ years building production-grade software, including 4+ years with Generative AI, LLMs, or applied machine learning.
• At least 1 year designing and deploying agentic AI solutions.
• Strong business-first approach, curiosity about complex operational challenges, and excellent English communication skills.
• Strong Python skills plus expertise in at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C#.
• Experience with MCP, modern engineering practices, agent frameworks, vector databases, enterprise integrations, and cloud deployment.
• Strong judgment across quality, latency, reliability, security, governance, and cost trade-offs.

Desirable and Preferred Experience

• Experience in aviation, transportation, logistics, supply chain, cargo, customer service operations, or other complex operational environments.
• Background in classical machine learning, data science, advanced analytics, or full-stack software development.
• Experience with voice AI, email automation, CRM integrations, workflow automation, multilingual AI, evaluation frameworks, or multi-agent architectures.
• Experience leading delivery with external AI platforms or technology vendors while developing internal engineering capabilities.

Education

• Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant certifications in Cloud AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI, MLOps, or related disciplines are advantageous.
