Role Overview

Minimum Qualifications

• Have a bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience, a master's degree and at least 3 years, or a PhD and at least 2 years.
• Have at least 2 years of work experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Have at least 6 years of embedded-systems experience involving platforms such as ARM, RISC-V, or MIPS.
• Have experience with low-level programming, bare metal, BIOS/UEFI firmware, Linux kernel, RTOS, or device drivers.
• Have a systems mindset and experience controlling analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits through software or firmware.
• Know EDA tools, digital verification methodologies, and hardware description languages such as Verilog and SystemVerilog.
• Have experience with SerDes, Ethernet, PCIe, D2D/UCIe products, or communication systems.
• Have hands-on lab experience validating CPU, SoC, FPGA, MCU, or DSP components and developing test and debug tools.
• Know relevant peripherals and protocols, including Ethernet, DDR, I2C, SPI/QSPI, MIPI/CSI, PCIe, USB, NVMe, and CAN.
• Have high-speed signal bring-up, diagnostics, configuration API, and bring-up tool experience.
• Have strong organizational and communication skills and willingness to address technical challenges.

What You Will Do

• Gather requirements and develop device-interface functions and higher-level firmware system designs.
• Coordinate bring-up and validation requirements across ASIC, digital design, verification, software, and systems teams.
• Translate requirements into efficient C/C++ firmware and support code reuse across the organization.
• Oversee SERDES PHY firmware from pre-silicon design through post-silicon validation and optimization.
• Develop test and debug capabilities to guide hardware design decisions.
• Implement software engineering best practices and document firmware and hardware design decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote team building and continuous improvement.
• Debug and drive low-level software, silicon, and hardware issues to closure.
• Coordinate cross-functional partners to meet chip bring-up, validation, testing, timing, and product requirements.
• Plan and develop regression test cases that improve reliability and release quality.

Preferred Skills

• Embedded Linux development, Buildroot, Yocto, Zephyr, or FreeRTOS experience is preferred.
• FPGA experience, including Xilinx, Zed, or MicroZed platforms, is preferred.
• Hands-on hardware debugging involving power, signal integrity, or EMC validation is preferred.
• Experience with Jira, Agile or Scrum, Confluence, or open-source projects is preferred.

Compensation

• The listed pay range is $121,000 to $171,000, with annual discretionary bonus and potential annual RSU grants.
• Benefits are offered as part of the total compensation package.
