Role overview
The Firmware Engineer role focuses on real-time embedded firmware for fire and life safety systems.
The role includes technical leadership, collaboration with hardware engineers, and mentoring junior engineers.
Firmware architecture and drivers
- Lead multi-threaded firmware architecture using FreeRTOS on ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers.
- Develop and optimize low-level drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN protocols.
- Configure RTOS semaphores, mutexes, queues, event groups, scheduling, task priorities, and memory management.
- Design interrupt service routines, deferred processing, and DMA-based data transfers.
Debugging and reliability
- Conduct board bring-up and debug hardware-software interface issues using logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
