Fire Alarm Technician

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and commission fire alarm systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire alarm equipment.
• Troubleshoot control panels, detectors, modules, sounders, manual call points, and notification devices.
• Test smoke and heat detectors, manual call points, hooters, sirens, strobes, and other field devices.
• Read fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Perform cable termination, loop testing, continuity testing, and fault identification.
• Configure and troubleshoot addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
• Interface systems with HVAC, access control, elevators, BMS, and other building systems when required.
• Maintain service reports, inspection records, testing documentation, and maintenance logs.
• Attend emergency breakdowns and resolve faults within the required timeframe.
• Follow fire safety standards, site safety procedures, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, contractors, and clients during installation and commissioning.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with fire alarm systems.
• Knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
• Experience with fire alarm panels, detectors, manual call points, modules, sounders, strobes, and batteries.
• Good knowledge of electrical wiring, cabling, termination, and testing.
• Ability to read electrical and fire alarm drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
• Basic knowledge of fire safety codes and standards.
• Ability to use a multimeter and other electrical testing equipment.
• Good communication and documentation skills.

Qualification and Experience

• ITI or diploma in electrical, electronics, fire and safety, or a related field.
• Five years of fire alarm technician experience are preferred.
• Relevant fire alarm system certification is advantageous.

Compensation

• Pay is AED 1,332.75 to AED 2,500 per month.

Workplace

• Work location is in person.
