Field Technical Specialist

Role overview

Duties and responsibilities

• Ensure safe execution and delivery of roofing services and operations.
• Provide technical training in contractor offices and field applications.
• Provide hands-on training and supervision for roof coatings and installations.
• Perform roof inspections with condition analysis, photographs, recommendations, and material budget estimates.
• Complete reports, sales activities, proposals, purchase orders, and expense reports.
• Travel within the assigned territory and provide pre-project inspections and technical support.
• Perform peel tests, product recommendations, installation support, and product diagnostics.
• Support, train, and develop contractors while maintaining relationships and introducing new products.

Qualifications and experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• An associate degree, trade school certification, or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of commercial roofing sales or technical experience is required.
• At least 2 years of commercial roofing repair, troubleshooting, or field service experience is required.
• Working knowledge of built-up, modified, single-ply, and metal roofing systems is required.
• A valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record are required.

Knowledge and skills

• Strong roofing or building science mechanical aptitude is required.
• Practical computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and internal business systems, is required.
• The role requires extensive hands-on knowledge of product applications and product lines.
• The role requires autonomy, self-motivation, strong work ethic, and multitasking ability.

Compensation

• The stated salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 per year.
• A company performance-based bonus and performance-based commission are offered.
• A company vehicle is provided.

Travel

• Overnight travel of up to 20% is required to support assigned customer accounts.
