Role overview

KEO is seeking an Environmental Engineer seconded to a government-sector client in Doha, Qatar.

The role supports environmental performance across beautification, landscaping, public realm, infrastructure, building, and development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental support and technical advice across beautification, landscaping, public realm, and development projects.
  • Prepare and review environmental reports, policies, procedures, CEMP, EMP, EIA, and other environmental documentation.
  • Monitor site implementation of environmental plans, regulations, and approved requirements through regular site visits.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, policies, and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Review consultant and contractor environmental submissions and coordinate approvals with the client’s Quality and Safety Department.
  • Monitor environmental KPIs, including recycling and waste management performance.
  • Identify risks, non-conformances, and improvement areas and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and the Ministry of Environment on environmental matters, permits, and approvals.
  • Support continuous improvement of environmental policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Provide technical input in meetings, capture lessons learned, and support programme-wide environmental performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline from a recognised WHED-listed university.
  • More than 10 years of relevant professional experience after the required academic qualification.
  • At least 5 years of environmental engineering or management experience on large-scale relevant projects.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing ISO 14001 environmental standards and management systems.
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience in environmental compliance, CEMP and EMP review, reporting, site monitoring, EIAs, and management-system implementation.
  • Additional HSE experience in construction, landscaping, or major development projects is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Work setting

  • The position is based in Doha and includes regular site visits and coordination with project stakeholders.
