Position summary

The Engineering Technician works in the Engineering and Facilities function at Marriott Executive Apartments in Doha, Qatar.

The position is full time, non-management, and not remote.

The role responds to guest repair requests and performs maintenance across hotel equipment, guestrooms, and building systems.

Maintenance responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication on tools and kitchen and mechanical-room equipment.
  • Inspect equipment and operate building utility shut-offs as needed.
  • Maintain inventory and requisition parts and supplies.
  • Perform painting, surface preparation, minor drywall and wood-trim repair, light-bulb replacement, filter replacement, and cleanup.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, plumbing, electrical components, guestroom items, and internet devices.
  • Program televisions, maintain engineering inventory, and adjust air-handler schedules and temperatures.
  • Repair interior and exterior landscaping and external landscaping sprinklers.

Safety and operations

  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work and properly store flammable materials.
  • Follow company safety, security, quality, and confidentiality policies and report hazards, accidents, injuries, and maintenance problems.
  • Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.

Guest and team service

  • Communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues and address guest service needs.
  • Welcome guests according to company standards and assist individuals with disabilities.
  • Develop positive working relationships, support team goals, and communicate clearly with employees and guests.

Preferred and required qualifications

  • A driver’s license is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting is preferred.
  • Hotel engineering or maintenance experience is an asset.
  • No supervisory experience is required.

Physical requirements

  • The role requires moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • The technician must be able to use stairs, ramps, and ladders and perform reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
