Position Status

  • The opportunity is expected to commence in January, subject to approval.
  • Candidates may apply to be considered as the position progresses.

The Project

The role supports a major Saudi Arabian mixed-use development programme involving sports facilities, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure.

Mace requires experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.

Role Overview

  • Provide architectural, engineering, and technical leadership for a network of stations serving a fully automated GoA4 driverless rail transit system.
  • Hold accountability for station technical integrity, passenger experience, and complex physical integration.
  • Lead stations from initial concept and functional architecture through detailed design, systems coordination, and construction readiness.
  • Manage international design consultants and enforce technical governance across the station programme.

Stations Delivery Responsibilities

  • Own functional station design, including passenger flow, platform screen door integration, vertical transportation capacity, and emergency egress.
  • Coordinate architecture, structural engineering, MEP systems, tunnel ventilation, smoke extraction, and environmental control systems.
  • Integrate communications, SCADA, security, and signaling rooms while maintaining design aesthetics and operational flexibility.
  • Direct Tier 1 consultants and project management offices through design reviews addressing quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Execute technical assurance gateways, safety-by-design protocols, configuration control, and compliance with safety, RAMS, and civil defense standards.
  • Lead value engineering and coordinate station interfaces, structural loads, utilities, boundaries, and delivery schedules with adjacent developments.
  • Resolve conflicts between developer requirements and rail transit standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Recognised professional membership and Chartered Engineer status, or equivalent internationally recognised professional registration.
  • At least 20 years of relevant experience across land transport design, construction, and/or operations and maintenance programmes.
  • At least five years in a senior leadership role within a major-project environment.
  • Middle East experience is advantageous.
  • Deep technical understanding of modern transit station design, including functional space planning, MEP coordination, platform screen door integration, and specialised life-safety systems.
  • Experience with automated or driverless GoA4 lines is highly valued.
  • Proven delivery of stations within complex, multi-stakeholder real estate master plans, giga-projects, or air-rights developments.
  • Exceptional capability to direct, evaluate, and challenge Tier 1 international engineering and architectural consultants.
