Project and role overview

Mace is delivering a major mixed-use Saudi Arabian programme containing sports facilities, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure.

The Associate Director – MEP will act as Engineer and lead MEP design management, technical assurance, and compliance for an international sports complex.

The role coordinates multidisciplinary engineering, specialist design, and construction stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, sustainable, and fully coordinated MEP solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead MEP engineering and design management across the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership and governance for MEP disciplines against international standards and statutory requirements.
  • Review, coordinate, and approve MEP submissions, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Manage architectural, structural, and MEP interfaces.
  • Chair technical workshops, design reviews, and coordination meetings.
  • Support value engineering, buildability, sustainability, low-carbon design, and operational resilience.
  • Mentor MEP engineers and design managers.
  • Support procurement, tendering, and technical evaluation of contractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor construction queries, inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover.
  • Apply technical risk management, change control, and quality assurance processes.

Requirements

  • Senior MEP design management or engineering leadership experience on large, complex developments.
  • Background in an Engineer, Consultant, or Design Authority role.
  • Experience from early design through construction and handover.
  • Strong knowledge of international MEP standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Experience on sports, stadium, arena, or complex public assembly projects is preferred.
  • Middle East and high-profile programme experience is advantageous.
  • Saudi Arabia visa criteria and relevant high-value consultancy project experience are required for immigration and client approval.
