Overview
This role is designed for academic leaders who prefer to construct systems rather than critique them from the sidelines.
You bring fluency in your discipline sufficient to recognize high-caliber learning, the rigor to translate that insight into rubrics and AI-driven quality assurance, and the pragmatism to respond quickly to imperfect data.
Student improvement is what matters to you, and you welcome being measured by that metric.
2 Hour Learning pursues an objective the broader software and education sectors seldom take on.
Teachers are absent, textbooks do not exist, and no familiar layer of traditional pedagogy supports the product.
AI serves as the operational foundation.
In this position, you leverage it to produce and refine learning materials, architect interventions, oversee quality standards, and advance the platform.
The cadence resembles high-stakes technology, consulting, or finance more than traditional education, and the reward is direct accountability for student outcomes in your subject across multiple campuses.
This position centers on operational leadership.
You will construct AI-driven enhancements to the learning ecosystem, respond to student performance indicators through targeted interventions, produce evidence-backed decision documentation, and lead a team evaluated against explicit benchmarks tied to MAP, AP, SAT, and ISEE performance.
You will also collaborate closely with product, engineering, and data science teams to shape platform priorities.
This is suited to someone who defaults to AI, conducts independent analysis, delivers work amid uncertainty, and assumes full ownership of outcomes.
It will frustrate anyone who favors consensus-driven timelines, minimal accountability, or the security of established methodologies.
You will serve as a key leader within the academics function, wielding genuine influence over your subject's performance and the evolution of the broader learning infrastructure.
The team will depend on your standards, judgment, and capacity to translate student data into decisive action.
If that prospect feels energizing rather than daunting, you are likely the candidate this role was designed for.
What You Will Be Doing
- Learning Ecosystem Enhancements — AI-generated refinements to K–12 subject-specific learning experiences spanning content, adaptive pathways, and student interventions, shaped by student feedback, analytics, assessments, and coaching intelligence.
- Data-Driven Academic Interventions — Focused intervention strategies for underperforming students or cohorts, informed by MAP, AP, SAT, ISEE, and comparable performance metrics.
- Student Performance Decision Records — Replicable, evidence-supported decisions documenting actions to improve student performance, validated through dashboards, analytics, tickets, surveys, coaching interactions, and assessment outcomes.
- Learning Ecosystem Improvement Specs — Implementation-ready specifications for product, engineering, and data science enhancements, encompassing problem definitions, corroborating evidence, anticipated student impact, and acceptance criteria.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Repackaging conventional education with an AI veneer. This is not about reproducing classroom teaching through digital screens – we are fundamentally redesigning learning from first principles.
- Conducting data analysis in a vacuum. You will be expected to engage directly and regularly with K-12 students, treating their feedback as critical input from our paying customers.
- Waiting for organizational consensus before advancing bold ideas. You will advocate for an ambitious vision and mobilize others around evidence-driven outcomes.
- Adhering to traditional methods. You will have latitude to experiment with novel approaches to motivation, assessment, and pedagogy.
- Viewing AI as a threat to education. In this role, you will embrace AI as a powerful instrument to transform learning, not a risk to be managed defensively.
Director Of Learning Key Responsibilities
Lead innovation in AI-powered, teacher-independent education to achieve outstanding student outcomes across multiple campuses.
Integrate data analytics with consistent student engagement to continuously refine our learning ecosystem, evaluated through AP exam performance and MAP assessment growth.
Basic Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Educational Science, Learning Science, Psychology, Psychometrics, Instructional Design, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in academic or EdTech leadership roles, with direct people management responsibility (hiring, performance evaluation, coaching, termination decisions)
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools as part of day-to-day professional workflows, and willingness to rely on AI extensively to improve academic and operational outcomes.
- Strong understanding of learning science principles, such as Cognitive Load Theory and Mayer's Multimedia Principles, and data-driven educational approaches
