Job Title: Director of Business Development- AV & ELV

Job Summary

The Director of Business Development- will be responsible for leading the organization’s commercial strategy and driving sustainable revenue growth.

The primary objective is to expand market share, strengthen sector presence, and ensure overall business profitability while overseeing sales and business development functions.

The role includes leadership of sales managers, business development teams, key account management, and sales operations.

The position requires strong pipeline management, accurate forecasting, and disciplined execution across all commercial activities.

This role carries full ownership of sales Profit & Loss (P&L), ensuring structured and sustainable business growth.

The General Manager will also oversee overall operations, strategic direction, and financial performance, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.

As a key member of the leadership team, the role plays a critical part in decision-making, operational excellence, and organizational development.

Multiple business functions including engineering, projects, pre-sales, technical operations, and design will report into this position.

1. Commercial Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute annual and long-term (5-year) sales strategies
  • Define sector-wise revenue targets and market penetration plans
  • Identify new business opportunities and strategic partnerships
  • Establish pricing frameworks and margin protection strategies

2. Revenue & P&L Ownership

  • Achieve annual revenue and gross profit targets
  • Monitor pipeline health, order intake, and forecast accuracy
  • Ensure profitability across projects and contracts
  • Implement corrective actions to avoid low-margin business

3. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage Sales Managers and Business Development teams
  • Guide cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Set KPIs and track performance on a regular basis
  • Build a high-performance and accountable culture
  • Conduct performance reviews and design incentive structures

4. Key Account & Relationship Management

  • Maintain executive-level relationships with key clients
  • Lead negotiations for high-value and strategic contracts
  • Strengthen relationships with consultants, developers, and partners
  • Enhance brand positioning across target sectors

5. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Align with Operations and Projects on execution capacity
  • Coordinate with Finance on credit control and collections
  • Collaborate with Procurement on cost optimization
  • Ensure seamless transition from sales to project execution
  • Plan resources proactively with department heads to maintain quality and reputation

6. Governance & Reporting

  • Present monthly performance reports to senior leadership
  • Ensure CRM discipline and pipeline transparency
  • Maintain compliance with commercial policies
  • Oversee tender strategies and bid approvals
