Reporting to the Manager, Dental Health Programs, and accountable to the Senior Director of Clinical Programs, the dentist will be responsible for providing a range of routine and emergency dental services to clients using a comprehensive health promotion approach. The role works collaboratively with the dental team to ensure comprehensive oral health care.
Primary Responsibilities
Provides a broad range of basic dental treatment including but not limited to: examinations and diagnosis, radiographs, emergency services, prescribe antibiotics, restorative services, laser treatment, oral surgery services, endodontic services, periodontal services, prosthodontic services, extractions, oral hygiene services, histopathological test/analysis, alveoloplasty, and local anesthetic administration, in a culturally safe manner following anti-racism and anti-oppression frameworks when engaging clients
Supports referrals and triage to appropriate specialists and urgent care providers based on clinical findings and maintains referral pathways with dental and medical providers
Completes all documentation and record keeping in accordance with LAMP policies and procedures, and current professional standards set by the RCDSO
Performs routine practices and additional precautions according to current infection control guidelines as per RCDSO guidelines and IPAC guidelines
Participates in oral health promotion, presentations, outreach, advocacy, community education, and resource development as directed
Some evenings, weekends, and local travel may be required
