CGI is seeking a Senior Developer – Data Engineering & Application Support.
The role develops, maintains and supports enterprise data pipelines and applications across Snowflake, Databricks, AWS and Oracle/ODI environments.
The position is based in Chennai or Hyderabad, India, with a 5:30pm–2:30am shift.
Work mode is work from office or hybrid according to business requirements.
Data engineering and platform support
- Develop and support ETL/ELT pipelines, batch and near real-time ingestion processes and reusable data-processing components.
- Build transformations and workflows, with error handling, logging and recovery mechanisms.
- Develop tables, views, schemas, data models, stored procedures and scheduled tasks.
- Write and optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot failed jobs and data-processing issues.
- Implement role-based access and permissions according to technical design.
AWS and Oracle delivery
- Develop and support AWS Glue jobs and Amazon S3 file-based ingestion and storage processes.
- Work with IAM roles and permissions and monitor AWS jobs using CloudWatch or equivalent tools.
- Develop and support Oracle Data Integrator mappings, packages and interfaces.
- Develop and troubleshoot PL/SQL procedures, functions and scripts.
- Support Oracle database activities and integration issues between Oracle and cloud data platforms.
Quality, support and deployment
- Execute data quality checks, reconciliation and completeness, accuracy and consistency validations.
- Monitor pipelines and scheduled jobs and resolve production incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Analyze application, job and database logs and implement permanent fixes for recurring incidents.
- Perform SQL tuning, performance testing and benchmarking.
- Develop unit and integration tests, prepare deployment documentation and support releases across environments.
Required qualifications
- 5–8+ years of experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in SQL and ETL/ELT development.
- Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks, enterprise data pipelines and ingestion processes.
- Experience with AWS Glue, Amazon S3, IAM and CloudWatch or equivalent monitoring tools.
- Strong experience with Oracle, PL/SQL and Oracle Data Integrator.
- Experience with data validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting, production support and incident management.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders, and document work effectively.
Technical competencies
- SQL and ETL/ELT are expected at advanced level.
- Snowflake or Databricks, ODI, data modeling and performance tuning are expected at intermediate to advanced level.
- AWS Glue, Amazon S3, IAM and CloudWatch are expected at basic to intermediate level.
- Oracle, PL/SQL, data quality and reconciliation, and production support are expected at advanced level.
