Role overview

The Data Architect will drive data and AI transformations for clients through complex data architecture programmes.

The role defines data blueprints and architects end-to-end platforms that are scalable, resilient, secure, and observable.

The position operates within PA Consulting's Digital and Data community and works across client sectors.

Core responsibilities

  • Define data architectures covering ingestion, orchestration, governance, security, cost optimization, and observability.
  • Translate business needs into scalable and secure data solutions.
  • Lead teams and own end-to-end delivery of complex client assignments.
  • Contribute to bids, identify opportunities, and support business growth.
  • Develop thought leadership, champion best practices, and mentor newer team members.
  • Set direction for teams and improve technical capability and client outcomes.

Technology capabilities

  • Relevant capabilities include multi-cloud, data warehousing, data lakes, data integration, programming, and scripting.
  • The role may involve machine learning and AI frameworks, infrastructure and DevOps tooling, BI and analytics platforms, and data governance tools.
  • PA works with cloud and data vendors including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Databricks, and Snowflake.

Essential requirements

  • Hands-on data experience with experience leading engineering teams to deliver applications and services.
  • Practical understanding of data architecture and delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to assess the impact of AI on data solutions and delivery approaches.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Certifications in relevant methodologies or cloud technologies are advantageous.

Working environment

  • The role uses hybrid working, with time in the office or on client site a minimum of two days per week.
  • Assignments may require up to five days per week on a client site depending on the role and client requirements.
  • The work follows agile practices and involves cross-functional collaboration with clients and engineering teams.

Assessment process

The assessment may include a recruiter call, competency or technical interviews, and a final discussion with a PA leader.

The final stage includes a mini case study and discussion of client-centricity.
