Cultural Advisor (CA)

Role overview

Primary responsibilities

• Advise U.S. military leaders on Host Nation culture, customs, sensitivities, and partnership expectations.
• Facilitate relationships with Host Nation military, government, and civilian organizations.
• Provide translation, interpretation, and transcription in Modern Standard Arabic and English.
• Deliver cultural context for briefings, operational discussions, and official engagements.
• Support administrative requirements for the 380 AEW and tenant units.
• Serve as liaison with Host Nation ministries, agencies, and military entities.
• Assist with personnel, resource security, medical coordination, and base access matters.
• Comply with Host Nation laws, USAFCENT guidance, and U.S. security standards.

Required qualifications

• Active SECRET clearance, maintained throughout employment.
• U.S. citizenship, valid U.S. driver's license, and U.S. passport.
• Ability to obtain required country visas and local driver's licenses, plus an international driver's license.
• ILR 3+ proficiency or equivalent in Modern Standard Arabic and English; DLPT scores are acceptable.
• Must meet required screening and background conditions for base and country access.

Working conditions

• Work may occur indoors and outdoors in hot, dry, dusty desert conditions, including temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
• The role may include industrial production environments and compliance with fire, safety, and post policies.

Physical requirements

• Light work may require lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly.
• Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and exposure-risk areas.
• Personal protective equipment may include head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protection.
