Position Overview

Contract Administration

• Administer construction and consultancy contracts in accordance with approved contract conditions and project procedures.
• Review contract documents, specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and contractual obligations.
• Monitor compliance with obligations, notices, procedures, milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
• Prepare contractual correspondence, notices, instructions, and formal communications.
• Maintain comprehensive and auditable contract records.

Claims, Disputes, and Changes

• Assess claims involving extensions of time, variations, disruption, prolongation, acceleration, and additional costs.
• Coordinate with planning, cost, commercial, and technical teams to establish entitlement, causation, and quantum.
• Support dispute resolution through arbitration, mediation, adjudication, or other formal processes.
• Manage variations, change orders, additional works, contractual notices, approvals, and change registers.

Commercial and Risk Management

• Identify contractual and commercial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Advise the Project Director, Commercial Director, and Client on contractual matters.
• Monitor exposure from claims, delays, variations, and non-compliance.
• Support forecasting of contractual liabilities and financial exposure and review payment-related matters.

Stakeholder Management

• Provide contractual guidance to project teams dealing with contractors and consultants.
• Participate in negotiations, commercial meetings, progress meetings, and dispute-resolution meetings.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure notices, submissions, and deliverables are reviewed within required timeframes.

Reporting and Governance

• Prepare regular contractual and commercial reports for senior management and the Client.
• Maintain contract, claims, variation, correspondence, and risk registers.
• Provide early warnings of significant contractual, commercial, and programme risks.
• Support audits and ensure records comply with PMC governance and project procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
• MRICS, MCIOB, PMP, or equivalent professional qualifications are highly desirable.
• Training or certification in contract administration or construction law is advantageous.

Experience and Competencies

• Bring 12–15 years of relevant contracts management experience on major construction or infrastructure projects.
• Have PMC, client-side, consultant, or major contractor experience and manage contracts from pre-award through close-out.
• Demonstrate expertise in FIDIC and international construction contracts, claims, variations, delays, disputes, and correspondence.
• Understand construction planning, delay analysis, programme management, payment mechanisms, extensions of time, liquidated damages, and contractual remedies.
• Use Microsoft Excel and Word effectively and be familiar with contract management and document-control systems.
• Demonstrate negotiation, analytical, risk-management, communication, stakeholder-management, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.
