Role Overview

The role is with an institutional digital asset custodian expanding its compliance function in the UAE.

The position focuses on digital asset custody, AML/CFT, and regulatory requirements.

The role works with senior management, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to maintain a robust control environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the MLRO and Head of Compliance in overseeing the firm's AML/CFT and regulatory compliance framework.
  • Provide compliance oversight across digital asset custody, wallet operations, client onboarding, and asset movements.
  • Conduct and review KYC/CDD/EDD, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity assessments.
  • Support regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring, risk assessments, and regulatory submissions.
  • Advise the business on VARA/FSRA requirements and evolving digital asset regulation.
  • Review policies, procedures, and controls for a regulated crypto custody environment.
  • Work with Operations and Technology teams on custody, safeguarding, wallet, and blockchain-related risks.
  • Act as Deputy MLRO and provide cover for the MLRO when required.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of Compliance or AML experience in financial services, fintech, digital assets, or another regulated environment.
  • Experience working with crypto or virtual assets, ideally in a regulated exchange, custodian, institutional digital asset business, or bank.
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC/CDD/EDD, sanctions, and transaction monitoring.
  • Experience with VARA, FSRA, FCA, or another credible financial services regulator.
  • Understanding of digital asset custody, wallet infrastructure, blockchain transactions, and safeguarding controls.
  • Experience supporting or deputising for an MLRO is highly desirable.
  • Strong ability to work with senior stakeholders and provide practical, commercially minded compliance advice.
  • ICA, ACAMS, or an equivalent compliance or AML qualification would be advantageous.
