Overview

  • Aramco is one of the world's largest producers of hydrocarbon energy and chemicals.
  • We are seeking a Compliance Counsel to join the Transactions, Sustainability & Reporting Compliance Department within Global Corporate Compliance Business of the Aramco Law Organization.
  • The Compliance Counsel will support compliance objectives and provide legal advice on international trade matters including export controls, economic sanctions, trade remedies, CFIUS, FDI, antiboycott, and customs laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide international trade legal advice relevant to jurisdiction and business needs.
  • Develop business procedures and provide legal advice for compliance with export controls, sanctions, CFIUS, FDI, antiboycott, customs, WTO obligations, and trade remedies.
  • Support internal stakeholders in developing robust internal export control programs.
  • Identify international trade risks and design/implement risk management controls.
  • Develop and deliver international trade training to employees and management.
  • Conduct and review regulatory compliance due diligence for new business opportunities, acquisitions, and financings.
  • Counsel and participate in compliance related technology development projects.
  • Manage outside counsel, projects, and integrated project teams.
  • Oversee compliance program obligations and interact with governmental agencies.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory requirements to ensure current compliance policies.
  • Support global operations with expert compliance counseling.
  • Work with Practice Area Lead to address compliance concerns.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Law degree (Master or Juris preferred).
  • Current admission to general practice before the highest court of the state or country of citizenship or residence.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a law firm or corporation with focus on international trade.
  • Direct experience providing legal advice on international economic sanctions.
  • Direct experience with U.S. and EU/UK export licensing requirements and global trade controls operations.
  • Experience using Refinitiv World Check, Dow Jones Riskcenter, or other Restricted Party List tools.
  • Pragmatic, business oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage business line leaders.
