Role overview

Hatch is seeking Intermediate and Senior Commissioning Managers for assignments in North America.

The role manages pre-commissioning and commissioning work for metals, steel and aluminum, mining, or infrastructure projects.

The manager works from the project office and project site and is accountable for delivery within safety, quality, schedule, and cost constraints.

Core responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, organize, and budget pre-commissioning and commissioning work.
  • Develop commissioning concepts, sequences, execution strategies, schedules, and estimates.
  • Coordinate commissioning systems with construction, engineering, procurement, clients, and project management.
  • Establish site procedures, including permit-to-work and Lock-Out/Tag-Out processes.
  • Review and approve estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
  • Review P&IDs, flow diagrams, single-line diagrams, network architecture drawings, and engineering registers.
  • Identify and obtain required permits and licenses before commissioning activities begin.
  • Develop site staffing requirements and direct commissioning specialists.
  • Coordinate supplier representatives and support other site functions.
  • Prepare and implement the Commissioning Execution Plan and commissioning management system.

Required qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Five to seven years of previous commissioning management experience.
  • Health and safety management expertise, including safe work practices and applicable legislation.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead and work within a team.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred skills

  • Experience using Visio or similar tools is an asset.

Work environment

  • The role is based from the project office and project site.
  • The position involves site activities, client coordination, shutdowns, relocations, tie-ins, and restart commissioning.
