Role Overview
The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in preparing high-quality food while maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
This is an entry-level culinary position performed under the guidance of senior chefs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking dishes as directed by senior chefs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
- Ensure food is prepared and stored according to hygiene and food safety standards.
- Help receive, check, and store deliveries.
- Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meat, and basic sauces.
- Support stock rotation using FIFO procedures.
- Ensure proper use and care of kitchen equipment.
- Assist in minimizing food wastage.
Requirements and Skills
- Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Culinary diploma or relevant training is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
