The commis chef assists the kitchen team with food preparation, cooking, and presentation in accordance with café recipes, quality standards, and food safety procedures.
The role requires kitchen discipline, teamwork, cleanliness, and efficient work in a fast-paced café environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and cooking according to café recipes.
- Prepare sandwiches, salads, breakfast items, and other menu items.
- Maintain food quality, presentation, and portion control.
- Ensure food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
- Assist the chef with daily kitchen operations.
- Clean kitchen equipment and workstations.
- Support stock checking and minimize food wastage.
- Work efficiently during busy café hours.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a commis chef or kitchen helper is preferred.
- Café or restaurant experience is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking is required.
- Good teamwork and communication skills are required.
- Applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Applicants must be willing to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
