Role overview
AltaLink is hiring a Commercial Development Engineer for its Policy and Commercial Development team.
The role supports growth strategy through regulated business development involving emerging technology, data centres, large loads, customer projects, and other initiatives.
The position is based out of the Calgary office and reports to the Manager, Policy and Commercial Development.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional strategy and business development initiatives covering technical assessment, project scoping, cost estimating, risk evaluation, implementation planning, and reporting.
- Evaluate regulated business opportunities involving emerging technologies, large loads, new projects, and other revenue-generating initiatives.
- Assess technical feasibility and operational or delivery risks for third-party revenue contracts.
- Administer the Market Participant Choice process, including technical validation, project management, tracking, reporting, and process improvement.
- Coordinate market participant activities from onboarding and technical scoping through agreement execution and project closeout.
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Legal, Projects, Operations, Asset Management, and Finance on project issues.
- Prepare business cases, proposals, and external funding applications.
- Support revenue growth, commercial performance reporting, regulatory initiatives, government engagement, and executive recommendations.
