About the Role
Bureau Veritas is seeking a Coating, Painting and Insulation Inspector for piping and pipeline projects in Abu Dhabi. The role requires BGAS 2 or NACE 2 certification and extensive experience in oil and gas QA/QC inspection.

Responsibilities
- Review and comment/approve contractor’s Painting, coating & wrapping procedures
- Carry out inspection of surface profile, chloride contamination test as per applicable standards
- Monitor weather and equipment condition during Painting, coating operation
- Ensure that paint materials are used from approved paint manufacturers with valid pot life
- Ensure that the application of coating is carried out as per the technical data sheet and approved painting specification
- Ensure proper time intervals between intermediate coats for proper chemical and mechanical bonding
- Witness/checking of Dry Film Thickness and Holiday detection / Pin hole detection and ensure calibrated testing equipment is used
- Monitor surface preparation, application of bonding agent, elastomer, wrapping and curing operation (for Neoprene coating) on riser pipes / clamps
- Witness post curing tests such as hardness, spark test, sound test, adhesion test, visual and dimensional check etc. on riser pipes / clamps
- Monitor surface preparation, application of CTE coating and post curing tests on pipeline
- Monitor surface preparation, application of heat shrink sleeves, holiday tests on field joints
- Monitor surface preparation, wrapping (Servi wrap M 30 B), holiday detection and doping on offshore pipeline
Requirements
- BGAS 2 or NACE 2 certification
- 5 years work experience in similar kind of inspection (for certification holders)
- 3 year Diploma or 4 year Bachelor Degree in mechanical engineering
- For Diploma: more than 12 years industrial QA/QC Coating, Painting and Insulation experience; for Bachelor: more than 3 years
- Oil & Gas Experience: Minimum 8 years for Diploma & Minimum 6 years for Bachelor degree
- Strong knowledge of International Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM and BS
- Experience with Painting/Coating Inspection according to relevant Codes
- Fully conversant with relevant inspection techniques and able to select the most appropriate inspection technique
- Able to verify and approve Non conformities / corrective actions
- Able to identify required Bureau Veritas interventions based on a pre defined Quality Plan

Position Details
- Position: Coating, Painting and Insulation (Piping & Pipeline) Inspector

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Specialty: BGAS 2 or NACE 2 certification and 5 years work experience in similar kind of inspection. For Pipeline, candidate shall be familiar with 3 LPE coating systems.
- Education: 3 year Diploma or 4 year Bachelor Degree in mechanical engineering
- Training: Site Safety Induction, H2S Training, HSE Induction for Specific Projects
- Technical knowledge: Strong knowledge of the International Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM and BS. Experience with Painting/Coating Inspection according to relevant Codes. Application of Codes and standards, project specifications and procedures.
- Experience: Industry experience: For 3 year Diploma more than 12 years industrial QA/QC Coating, Painting and Insulation. For 10 year bachelor degree more than 3 years industrial QA/QC Coating, Painting and Insulation. Oil & Gas Experience: Minimum 8 years for Diploma & Minimum 6 years for Bachelor
Primary Functions

- Within his field of competency, the inspector is expected to conduct the activities stated in Primary functions.
- Fully conversant with relevant inspection techniques and able to select the most appropriate inspection technique.
- Able to verify and approve Non conformities / corrective actions
- Able to identify required Bureau Veritas interventions, based on a pre defined Quality Plan and according to specified standards.
- Able to review / appraise inspection procedures

- Report to Team leader about day to day inspection, non compliance /discrepancy to specification.
