Job Description
Responsible for supporting the Senior Engineer in all civil related engineering works in full coordination with other engineers, supervisor, coordinator, end users and the Organization’s staff and ensuring that all civil works are performed according to approved policies and procedures, safety, statutory and contractual requirements.
Responsibilities
- Providing inputs to the department, on planning and designing of all civil works.
- Identifying project requirements and preparing the project plan (scope and work breakdown, construction materials and recommended suppliers) and design (systems and products).
- Reviewing design specifications, blueprints and other technical drawings; researching suitable solutions, making models and prototypes of products.
- Reviewing civil engineering drawings and related documents submitted by consultants, contractors or the like, relating to all project execution, renovation work in various phases.
- Liaising with the consultants and contractors, then participating with the approval of correct drawings.
- Reviewing design specifications, blueprints and other technical drawings.
- Investigating sites to work out the most suitable foundation for a proposed construction;
- Researching and advising on the best engineering solution to meet with facility needs and budget;
- Producing detailed designs and documentation for the construction and implementation of civil engineering projects.
- Preparing engineering calculations required for the design of projects and supervising the drafting.
- Managing and monitoring day to day activities of the department.
- Attending meetings with the requesting facility/ outsourced firms and keeping all informed of progress;
- Ensuring that the progress of work in relation with the work programme and report to the Senior Engineer;
- Planning and preparing estimation costs for new projects being executing as per the instruction of Senior Engineer.
- Providing technical support, advice and information to the Senior Engineer for the day-to-day management and coordination of all civil works.
- Ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications, instructions and programmes.
- Planning, arranging and controlling of material compliance testing/ evaluation and maintain records.
- Organizing the delivery of materials, plant and equipment needed for the construction project and supervising labour;
- Analysing and interpreting reports on loading, labour, productivity, quality, materials and performance.
- Communicating and coordinating to the department.
- Communicating and consulting with other healthcare disciplines.
- Attending interdisciplinary meetings to provide technical support and advice.
- Participating in joint meetings with members of the Health Authority Engineering Directorate;
- Participating in the development, communication and evaluation of standards, procedures and protocols.
- Liaising and co-ordinating with consultants and contractors, as required, at each site in order to discuss any issues or problems and to supervise the work carried out.
- Attending and participating in various committee meetings.
- Meeting regularly with other engineers within the facility to co-ordinate duties and exchange information.
- Meeting with contractors and consultants on a weekly basis in order to discuss progress.
- Maintaining document control for the department.
- Preparing project status reports, as necessary.
- Managing and maintaining document control systems for construction and maintenance information.
- Communicating and consulting with other healthcare disciplines.
- Reporting to the Senior Engineer all mechanical works.
- Coordinating with contractors.
- Ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the contract specification, drawings, instructions and programmers.
- Attending meetings with contractors and resolving conflicts between design and user requirements.
- Identifying matters related to faulty construction and ensuring that appropriate rectification is carried out.
- Checking all drawings produced by contractors for accuracy and keeping the relevant records updated.
- Providing all quality checks concerning the project.
- Conducting various performance and tolerance tests of new assets (building infrastructure and equipment components, products and systems within the infrastructure) based on test criteria as established by SEHA policies and procedures.
- Planning, arranging and recording inspection and test activities for materials and workmanship.
- Carrying out testing of materials, processes or systems related to civil engineering works.
- Ensuring the contractors compliance with the set technical specifications and carries out certain checks, such as reviewing the list of materials to be used for each project to ensure that all comply with requirements.
- Using the bill of quantity to ensure that the correct materials are used in the correct quantity etc.
- Carrying out physical inspections of sites in order to check that the works are as required and in compliance with the set contractual conditions and specifications.
- Analyzing risks associated with natural disasters including wind, earthquake, fire and floods, design structures and services to meet appropriate standards.
- Contributing to team effort.
- Participating in cross-functional teams and committees as appropriate.
- Developing and enhancing team procedure manual and processes and discussed with seniors.
- Managing his/her subordinates and ensuring team development and complaint resolution, setting KPI’s for direct reports and conducting performance appraisal and driving motivation levels of direct reports.
Qualifications
Qualification : Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or any related degree
Required
2-4 years of relevant experience in a similar industry
