About the Role

- Oversee identification, assessment, and treatment of accident blackspots using field inspections and data analysis
- Lead initiatives to standardize and upgrade road and traffic signal design criteria
- Implement and manage the road safety audit system across project phases
- Review temporary and permanent traffic diversion plans for safety implications
- Serve as RTA's technical representative in multi agency traffic safety committees
- Recommend AI and data analytics enhancements for accident prediction and safety monitoring
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Transportation Engineering or Traffic Safety Engineering
- Master's degree in Transportation Safety or Traffic Engineering preferred
- 5+ years experience with master's degree (7+ years with bachelor's degree) in related field

Strategy
- Support development and periodic update of Dubai's Traffic Safety Strategy and implementation roadmap.
- Provide expert guidance on formulation and revision of traffic laws, regulations, and enforcement policies.
- Contribute to long term planning of road and intersection designs incorporating safety by design principles.
- Draft engineering guidance on futuristic safety topics (e.g., autonomous vehicles, smart monitoring).
- Participate in budgeting cycles for blackspot treatments, safety studies, and inspection technologies.
Operations
- Oversee formal identification, assessment, and treatment of accident blackspots using field inspections and geospatial analysis.
- Lead initiatives to standardize and upgrade road and traffic signal design criteria based on accident patterns.
- Implement and manage the road safety audit system across project phases.
- Review temporary and permanent traffic diversion plans for safety implications.
- Serve as RTA's technical representative in multi agency traffic safety and enforcement committees.
- Advise on incident prone areas using advanced crash analytics and recommend interventions.
- Coordinate with internal design teams and external consultants to embed safety engineering elements.
Process / Product Improvement
- Recommend AI and data analytics based enhancements in accident prediction, safety monitoring, and blackspot detection.
- Conduct post incident technical reviews and propose design/operational changes to prevent recurrence.
- Contribute to continuous update of manuals and guidelines related to traffic safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Transportation Engineering or Traffic Safety Engineering; master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years experience with master's degree (7+ years with bachelor's degree) in related field.
Physical Working Conditions
- Work involves periodic field inspections at crash locations, high risk intersections, and traffic diversions.
- May require coordinating with emergency response agencies and law enforcement at incident sites.
