Certified Medication Aide

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering prescribed medications to residents or patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN or LPN).

The CMA also assists with daily living activities, monitors patients for medication side effects, maintains accurate documentation, and provides compassionate, quality care.

• Administer prescribed medications according to physician orders and facility policies.
• Accurately document medication administration and maintain medication records.
• Observe patients for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, or changes in condition and report concerns to the licensed nurse.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, as needed.
• Measure and record vital signs when required.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning of residents.
• Ensure medication carts and supplies are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Follow infection control, safety, and medication administration protocols.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Respond promptly to resident needs and emergency situations.
