Working as part of the kitchen team, the Kitchen Helper at Phoenix Society is responsible for food preparation.
Prepare meal ingredients for cooks, including washing, peeling, cutting and slicing ingredients
Assist kitchen staff to unload food supplies from delivery trucks
Store ingredients and food items according to food safety standards
Remove expired or spoiled ingredients from the refrigerator, freezer and stockroom
Clean and store all dishes, utensils and cooking instruments
Pack take-out orders as needed
Load, items for transport to the Society’s various housing locations in a safe, timely manner
Sanitize food service equipment (e.g., Cambro carts) when they are returned from meal service delivery
Remove garbage/compost, replace garbage/compost bags and wash garbage/compost bins
Mop and sweep kitchen areas as required
Other duties as assigned
