We are looking for an experienced and skilled butcher to join our supermarket team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and packaging meat products while ensuring high standards of quality, hygiene, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, debone, and prepare various types of meat (chicken ,beef, lamb, poultry, etc.) according to supermarket standards.
- Operate meat-cutting tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain proper storage, labeling, and rotation of meat products (FIFO).
- Ensure all meat displays are well-presented, fresh, and fully stocked.
- Follow strict hygiene, food safety, and sanitation guidelines at all times.
- Assist customers with meat selection, product information, and special cutting requests.
- Monitor and maintain temperature controls for chillers and freezers.
- Keep workstations, cutting areas, and tools clean and sanitized.
- Report low stock levels, damaged products, and equipment issues to the supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with the supermarket team to meet daily operational requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a butcher in a supermarket or meat shop.
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, trimming, deboning, and portioning.
- Ability to work safely with knives and cutting equipment.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP guidelines.
- Physical stamina to handle a 12-hour shift, including lifting and standing for long periods.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in cold environments (chillers/freezers).
- Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays if required.
