Role Overview
The Structural BIM Modeler creates, develops, and maintains accurate structural 3D models in a BIM environment.
The role covers steel, concrete, and hybrid systems and supports the design-to-construction workflow.
Modeling and Documentation
- Develop detailed models of beams, slabs, and columns using Revit or other BIM software to required LOD levels.
- Prepare coordinated shop drawings, sections, schedules, plans, elevations, and detailed structural drawing packages.
- Set up families and libraries for structural systems and export models or drawings in DWG, IFC, and PDF formats.
Coordination and Quality
- Coordinate with civil, architectural, and MEP disciplines to detect and resolve clashes.
- Ensure compliance with BIM Execution Plans, LOD requirements, company standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Conduct model quality checks and audits and maintain documentation and version control.
Project Support
- Update models for design changes, RFIs, and site modifications.
- Provide accurate quantity take-offs and model data to support project engineers and managers.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in structural engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other BIM tools.
- Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, and precast structural systems.
- Understanding of common data environments such as ACC or BIM 360.
- Familiarity with international structural standards and sizes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and generate a complete structural drawing package.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication, and teamwork are required.
