The BAS Design Lead plays a critical role in delivering reliable, innovative building automation solutions that improve building performance and client satisfaction. By providing technical leadership throughout the design process, this role helps ensure projects are delivered efficiently, consistently, and in alignment with Modern Niagara's quality, safety, and operational standards. Their expertise supports project success, strengthens collaboration across teams, and contributes to the continued growth of our Integrated Building Technologies business.
Key Impact / Purpose
Deliver accurate, efficient BAS designs that support safe, high-quality, and cost-effective project execution.
Enable successful project delivery by collaborating with Sales, Project Management, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Improve design consistency and technical excellence by contributing to standards, templates, peer reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual BAS design drawings to support the Sales and Estimating team during project pursuits.
- Serve as the primary design resource for Project Managers throughout project execution.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Field Technical Leads, and Installation teams to ensure consistent project delivery.
- Produce detailed design drawings, control schematics, and as-built documentation for assigned projects.
- Interpret mechanical drawings and project specifications and translate them into complete BAS design deliverables.
- Select controllers, sensors, and field devices that meet project specifications while balancing performance, constructability, and cost.
- Monitor and manage assigned design labour budgets.
