- Administer and maintain the Ellucian Banner Student Information System and its supporting database environments
- Manage Banner installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and ongoing system maintenance
- Administer Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases and support other database platforms where required
- Monitor database performance and implement improvements through indexing, query optimization, and resource allocation
- Develop, review, and optimize SQL queries, scripts, stored procedures, and database objects
- Manage database backup, restoration, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
- Maintain database security, user roles, access permissions, and data encryption controls
- Support Banner access management, Ethos Identity Services, ORDS APIs, and integration with other institutional systems
- Manage database replication, clustering, high availability solutions, and failover arrangements
- Support database modelling, schema design, and data integrity requirements
- Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools
- Support databases hosted on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud
Requirements
- Experience administering Ellucian Banner Student Information System
- Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Proficiency in SQL, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud) is a plus
- Scripting skills in Python or PowerShell

Role Overview
- The Banner DBA is responsible for the administration, maintenance, performance, security, and availability of the Ellucian Banner Student Information System and its supporting database environments.
- The role manages the installation, configuration, upgrading, patching, monitoring, backup, recovery, performance tuning, and security of Banner and associated Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- It also supports integrations, access management, disaster recovery, and system availability to ensure the reliable operation of critical institutional applications.
