Job purpose
Provide guidance and oversight to support an effective and efficient risk-based supervision strategy.
Contribute to the DFSA’s strategic and business objectives within the Board of Directors’ risk tolerance.
Role responsibilities
- Devote most working time to managerial and operational tasks and support policy development.
- Assist the Director and contribute to the work of the supervision team.
- Act as a technical expert and provide internal training as needed.
- Guide the team on relevant risks affecting regulated entities and support risk-based authorisation and supervision.
- Monitor international and regional regulatory standards and financial services industry developments.
- Contribute to strategic direction, business planning, and policy formation.
- Cascade approved strategies, business plans, and policies into day-to-day team management.
Educational background
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Have continuing professional education relevant to the position.
- A postgraduate degree in a similar field is advantageous.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM are a plus.
Professional experience
- Have at least 10 years of regulatory, compliance, or risk management experience in a broadly equivalent financial services regulator or regulated entity.
- At least 2 years in managerial or supervisory roles is desirable.
- Have experience dealing with regulators, standard setters, boards of directors, and senior executives.
- Have a deep understanding of conduct, prudential, and fintech regulatory business models.
- Experience running a regulatory sandbox is advantageous.
- Have a background exposed to digital assets.
