- WHY THIS JOB EXISTS To serve the needs of the business, our guests and our colleagues by leading the successful execution of all hotel events, with a seamless turnover from Sales Manager to Service Managers, and through to post-event follow up. Event Managers are responsible for the total event service process. All members of the Food & Beverage Department are responsible for ensuring that visitors to the hotel are delighted by the quality, creativity and variety of our food and beverage offerings in every area of the hotel, and that F&B is regarded as a strong point of differentiation for the hotel in its local market.

- KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. Minor Hotels employees always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their colleagues. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are: • Providing overall leadership and management of the Banquets and Events hosted by the hotel. • To interact with guests, suppliers, and other partners as required to ensure maximum guest satisfaction and maximize the returns to the hotel • To motivate and supervise all employees involved in the provision of banqueting and events service, and ensure that the service they deliver is in line with the best Minor Hotels service standards. • With the hotel training manager, identify training needs and develop and deliver the required training for department employees to meet the needs of the business. Support the training of Departmental Trainers to continue to improve hotel service levels. • To be aware of the best external competitor offerings in the local market, and to continually work with hotel colleagues to improve our own offerings with the goal of being the best in the market for creativity, service, choice, and value for money. • Coordinates with the purchasing department of the hotel for specific purchasing requirements relating to the Banqueting Department. • To be a sales champion for the hotel, generating and following up on business referrals and potential sales leads to maximize business for the hotel. • To work closely with Sales colleagues in respect of requests for inspection, or care of walk-in potential clients • To assist in the design and implementation of attractive banquet packages and ways to promote them. • Use established file and traces system to ensure consistency. • To promptly respond to all messages, ensuring that all messages are returned within 4 hours. • To ensure use of standardized form letters by all Event Management Team as response to inquiries, tentative/definite bookings, thank you, cancellations and rebooking. Ensure appropriate letters are sent and filed. • To have full knowledgeable of the following: Function room capacities and various set ups, available space and rental charges, Menus and pricing, Guarantee policy Cancellation policy, Payment policy, Corkage fees, Miscellaneous pricing ( floral, entertainment, etc), Shipping /receiving policies • Post Event – to contact clients after scheduled functions to ensure guest satisfaction and to solicit rebooking • To monitor, handle and process all billing/ payment procedures according to accounting standards.
