Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and age appropriate lessons in accordance with the school curriculum.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that supports the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to support different learning styles and abilities.
  • Assess, record, and report on the progress, development, and attainment of students regularly.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents or guardians.
  • Develop and maintain classroom routines that promote respect, responsibility, and positive behaviour.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and school leadership to enhance the educational experience for all students.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, parent teacher conferences, and school events.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to support student learning and well being.
  • Uphold school policies and maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and professionalism.
  • Identify and respond to the individual needs of students, including those with special educational needs or learning difficulties.
  • Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance learning and engagement.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of child development and age appropriate teaching methods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create a supportive, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
  • Effective classroom management and behaviour management skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital teaching tools
  • Ability to assess student progress and adapt teaching methods
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
  • Teaching certification or licensure
  • Additional qualifications in special education, literacy, or curriculum development (desirable)
  • Previous experience teaching elementary aged children (typically 1–3 years or more)
