Job Purpose
Perform day-to-day design and operations for critical and important applications serving the organization.
Conduct daily application health checks, participate in change management reviews, perform post-change checks, and automate tasks where possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple applications to ensure scalable, reliable, and available systems.
- Design and develop an application operations strategy with application owners and users.
- Design application monitoring and understand how IAM, PAM, and cybersecurity rules apply to applications.
- Provide technical support and feedback to application and development teams.
- Analyze application usage trends and develop availability dashboards and monthly SLA uptime statistics.
- Maintain documentation for application deployment, cold starts, critical services, technology standards, and processes.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve actions affecting application reliability and service downtime.
- Plan application maintenance, manage technology delivery against service level agreements, and recommend efficiencies.
- Champion process automation with scripts and tools such as Ansible.
- Maintain software and system updates, including patch planning, deployment, and required system restarts.
- Contribute to the knowledge system and share knowledge with the first-line support team.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience working in a large company or with a government entity.
- Experience with software development frameworks and methodologies.
- Experience with OT and/or manufacturing is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to write code in PowerShell, Visual Basic, JavaScript, Python, C#, HTML, HTML5, or ASP.
- Application development and application design capability.
- Strong continuous improvement, communication, presentation, customer-service, process, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence and educate and to interface successfully with service providers and vendors.
Preferred Certification
- ITIL v3+ Foundation certification is preferred.
