About the Role

Responsibilities
- Safely handle, restrain, and transport animals as required for examinations, treatments, grooming, or other procedures
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary nurses with safe animal handling and restraint
- Feed, exercise, and provide basic daily care to animals according to established schedules and instructions
- Monitor animals for changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, or general condition and report any concerns to the veterinary team
- Maintain clean, hygienic, and comfortable animal housing, kennels, cages, and handling areas
- Follow proper infection control, sanitation, and animal welfare procedures
- Assist with the safe movement and transfer of animals within the facility
- Maintain animal handling equipment and ensure that all tools and areas are clean and ready for use
- Follow safety protocols to minimize stress and prevent injury to animals, colleagues, and visitors
- Provide calm and professional support when dealing with pet owners and members of the veterinary team
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Animal Handler, Pet Handler, Kennel Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, Animal Caretaker, or similar role is preferred
- Practical experience handling dogs, cats, and other domestic animals
- Basic understanding of animal behavior, welfare, hygiene, and safe restraint techniques
- Physically fit and able to safely lift, carry, and control animals when required
- Patient, attentive, responsible, and comfortable working with animals of different sizes and temperaments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required
- Veterinary clinic or animal hospital experience is an advantage

REQUIREMENTS
