Role Overview

The AI Lab Operations Lead is the hands-on technical practitioner responsible for making the local geo lab operational and active day to day.

The role coordinates physical and virtual lab usage, supports teams using new tools, manages demo and proof-of-concept requests, and builds prototypes for client demonstrations.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate lab bookings, room readiness, equipment, tooling access, and on-site logistics for workshops and client visits.
  • Provide hands-on support during workshops involving agentic frameworks, prototyping tools, and sandbox environments.
  • Triage demo and prototype requests, scope effort, assign build resources, and track delivery.
  • Build and maintain demos and proof-of-concept prototypes showcasing agentic AI use cases.
  • Set up workshop environments, troubleshoot sessions, and capture build artifacts.
  • Maintain lab tools, sandbox accounts, sample datasets, and reusable scaffolding.
  • Share prototype patterns and reusable components with the national lab team.
  • Report lab utilization metrics, including sessions, prototypes, and generated pipeline.

What You Bring

  • 2–5 years of experience in technical delivery, solutions engineering, data or AI engineering, applied machine learning, full-stack development, or technical consulting.
  • Comfort using terminals and command-line interfaces across tools and environments.
  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and integrating MCP servers or clients.
  • Hands-on experience with at least two LLM APIs, agentic frameworks, Custom GPTs or Copilot Studio, Python prototyping, or vector stores and RAG.
  • Comfort facilitating client-facing workshops, demos, and working sessions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comfort working in an integrated development environment, cloud console, and workshop room.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organization while managing multiple projects, sessions, and requests.
  • Curiosity about emerging tools and a practical focus on functional solutions.
  • Collaborative approach across local and national teams.

Compensation

  • Expected base salary is CAD 80,000 to CAD 100,000, with possible eligibility for bonus awards.
