About the role

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship complex platform components, backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Build AI/ML-powered features end to end, including model integration, data flows, and production operation.
• Drive technical decisions for scalability, performance, security, and cost.
• Apply best practices for code quality, testing, security, observability, and operational excellence.
• Build resilient services that integrate across products and with external healthcare systems.
• Embed healthcare and data-protection compliance, including HIPAA and GDPR, into implementations.
• Debug, profile, and harden production systems and own reliability and incident response.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and code reviews.
• Partner with product and clinical stakeholders on technically sound designs.
• Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and tooling based on capability, cost, risk, and time to value.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 7 years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
• Hands-on coding expertise in one or more modern languages, such as Python, Java, or Go.
• Strong design skills across distributed systems, backend services, APIs, and data-intensive architectures.
• Experience integrating AI/ML into products and operationalizing AI/ML-powered features in production.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, performance tuning, and incident response.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Additional qualifications

• Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR or HL7 is desirable, with ability to ramp quickly on regulated domains accepted.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and Docker and Kubernetes is required.
