Position summary
The Weld Engineer plans complex projects and creates welding procedures that meet technical and client requirements.
The position reports to the Engineering Manager and supports quality, urgency, and operational improvement.
Essential duties
- Conduct welder certification testing and maintain documentation.
- Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Qualification Records and Welding Procedure Specifications.
- Program robotic weld cells and collaborate with robotic weld technicians to improve quality, cycle time, and throughput.
- Coordinate tooling and fixture builds and develop robotic initiatives for manually welded products.
- Train associates on welding procedures and support Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare reports, provide department reporting, and comply with company, OHSA, quality, and environmental procedures.
Qualifications
- Technical qualifications in welding and either a two-year Welding Technology associate degree or a four-year degree in Welding Technology or Engineering.
- Hold at least one applicable certification: Certified Welder, Certified Welding Inspector, Certified Welding Educator, or Certified Welding Engineer.
- Hold AWS or CWB certification and have three to five years of fabrication manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrate strong GMAW and GTAW knowledge, blueprint interpretation ability, basic mechanical skills, and robotics experience.
- Have excellent written and verbal English and the ability to remain calm in a busy, complex environment.
Compensation
- Salary is $85,000 to $100,000 per year.

Workplace
- Work location is in person at the fabrication operation in Brampton, Ontario.
- On-site parking is available.
