Position Summary
The Process Engineer analyzes, develops, and optimizes operational processes to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance.
The role supports continuous improvement, troubleshoots process issues, and promotes compliance with standards and best practices.
The Process Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager.
Core Responsibilities
- Support new product introduction by developing, validating, and transitioning manufacturing processes into full-scale production.
- Define and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, routings, tooling, drawings, bills of materials, and process instructions.
- Use statistical methods and data analysis to establish process standards, quality objectives, and production requirements.
- Manage production tooling and maintain internal ERP tooling records and customer tooling databases.
- Optimize workforce utilization, workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout within assigned process areas.
- Provide process support, investigate deviations and non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Use Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and continuous improvement tools to improve fabrication and assembly processes.
- Coordinate process changes with engineering, production, quality, management, and external stakeholders.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, and validation, and train production personnel on revised processes.
- Ensure compliance with operational procedures, quality systems, and environmental standards including IATF and ISO 14001.
Education and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required, or 5 or more years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in metal fabrication or a manufacturing environment is an asset.
- The role requires knowledge of metal-cutting operations, grinding, tooling manufacturing, general machining, CNC machining, metal forming, and welding.
- Candidates must be able to specify manufacturing processes, correct machining problems, estimate machining cycles, and perform method and project analysis.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Creo, and ERP system functionality is an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Compensation
- The salary range is $70,000 to $85,000 per annum.
