Position Summary

Oversee the engineering department across two Ontario manufacturing facilities.

Manage engineering functions within manufacturing operations.

Lead product development and production cycles while managing people and projects.

Project and Engineering Management

  • Track engineering targets for cost, quality, delivery, performance, project budgets, and departmental budgets.
  • Resource programs with internal and external personnel as needed.
  • Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams and release engineering deliverables.
  • Maintain timing plans, defect and issue lists, risk assessments, lessons learned, and project review updates.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable standards.

Team Leadership and Planning

  • Provide formal supervisory leadership with functional and disciplinary authority.
  • Coach, develop, and support direct and extended team members.
  • Align resources so projects are staffed appropriately and deliverables are achieved efficiently.

Process Design and Quality

  • Develop FMEAs, control plans, and SOPs, and support corrective-action problem solving.
  • Comply with Quality Operating System requirements.
  • Modify plant layouts based on customer requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of product design techniques, CAD systems, drawings, and nesting databases.
  • Justify and drive equipment and process upgrades.
  • Provide industrial engineering and process design expertise to other departments.

Lean, Safety, and Operations

  • Apply synchronous manufacturing and lean production principles to implement tactical plans.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and assist with commissioning plants, lines, equipment, and systems.
  • Monitor machine and employee ergonomics and safety requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements and facility safety regulations.
  • Follow operational, quality, environmental, and safe-work procedures.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree in mechanical engineering.
  • At least five years of related experience in automotive or metal fabrication.
  • At least five years of experience with current CAD software modules for design and layout.
  • In-depth knowledge of process improvement, product design, mechanical drawing standards, and GD&T.
  • Experience with metal cutting, forming, welding, and machining.
  • Knowledge of lean techniques.
  • Ability to travel if required.
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD is preferred.

Compensation

  • Salary range is $125,000 to $140,000 per year.
