We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a VP Programmes – Portfolio and Strategy to join the Team in Derby.
This is a Senior Leadership role reporting into the SVP – Business Development and Capability.
This VP Programmes – Portfolio and Strategy role is accountable for shaping, mobilising and governing strategic MRO and capability programmes from early definition through to execution.
It will also apply control and governance to ensure delivery of a complex Aftermarket Operations portfolio within capital, engineering spend and resource commitments.
It includes ownership of translating uncertain strategy, SIOP demand signals and business development activity into executable, governed programmes.
Ideally, you will have experience working in the Civil Aerospace MRO business to be able to quickly understand and influence the Aftermarket Operations portfolio, support prioritisation decisions and make an immediate impact.
The Aftermarket Operations portfolio is currently going through a period of growth and this role is critical to ensuring we make the best decisions, supported by the required resource and investment.
The role will also be accountable for leading and maturing the Project and Programme Management capability across Aftermarket Operations, defining standards, embedding governance and strengthening risk management to enable consistent, high-quality delivery across the portfolio.
What you will be doing:
The VP Programmes – Portfolio and Strategy role will provide day-to-day leadership of portfolio shaping, prioritisation, governance and performance, ensuring alignment to Civil Aerospace strategic objectives.
You will balance transformation, MRO capability growth, and business-as-usual delivery to optimise return on investment.
You’ll play a leading role in developing and influencing portfolio investment recommendations and decisions in conjunction with Civil Portfolio Planning:
• Define, implement and continuously evolve governance frameworks across Aftermarket Operations, ensuring clear accountability, effective decision-making and control of the full investment portfolio, including capital, engineering spend and resource deployment.
• Lead identification, assessment and active management of portfolio risks, threats and opportunities, ensuring timely interventions and alignment of mitigation actions with changing SIOP demand, operational constraints and business priorities.

• Influence and align senior stakeholders (internal and external) resolving conflicts and driving agreement to enable timely and effective decision-making on MRO strategy, portfolio priorities and investments.

Preferred requirements:
• Can demonstrate behaviours that meet the six R-R leadership expectations
• Ideally a member of a professional body or working to achieve an IPMA Level B or Chartered Qualification (Check PMI equivalent)
• Has demonstrable experience in the management of programmes / projects of increasing complexity and has successfully delivered Level B complexity projects. Have worked in a programme or portfolio environment.
• Ideally has experience in all stages of a programme lifecycle and has been responsible for the delivery of one or more of those stages.
• Demonstrable experience of leading large, multi-faceted globally distributed teams towards effective delivery of complex business requirements
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex information with individuals at all levels within the organisation.
• Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience.
