The function measures, monitors, controls, and reports market risk exposures from Global Markets and Group Treasury activities.
The VP and Head of Market Risk Oversight will develop and maintain the function under the Head of Market Risk Management.
The role supports compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies while improving risk monitoring and analysis.
General Accountability
- Support the organisation's objectives and help achieve business plans through risk-adjusted performance oversight.
- Ensure material market risks are identified, monitored, and managed with appropriate controls or mitigation plans.
Market Risk Oversight Duties
- Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring and reporting of open market risks.
- Provide senior management and risk committees with assessments of market risk exposures and risk profiles.
- Ensure adherence to the board-approved market risk appetite.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and accessible reporting for senior management.
- Support regulatory submissions, ICAAP, stress testing, and market risk metrics.
- Review and validate risk reports before and after distribution.
- Own oversight governance and deliver strategic and tactical projects.
- Automate processes and systems to improve efficiency.
- Provide guidance to the MR Capital Oversight team.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder and Control Activities
- Lead engagement with Corporate Governance to keep policies and SOPs updated.
- Lead engagement with Group Internal Audit to address recommendations on time.
- Coordinate with IT and service providers on issues, enhancements, and implementations.
- Liaise with Market Risk Middle Office on market data, static data, collateral, and risk report validation.
- Work with Market Risk Analytics on valuation, risk methodologies, and market data.
- Liaise with Product Control on market data used for official valuation and risk measurement.
- Support business continuity testing and resolve escalated issues.
Requirements
- Ability to lead the Market Risk Oversight function and its governance framework end-to-end.
- Ability to operate within approved bank policies, regulatory requirements, and market risk appetite limits.
- Ability to assess, validate, explain, and report market risk exposures to senior management and committees.
- Ability to lead cross-functional engagement with Front Office, IT, Product Control, Risk teams, and internal audit.
- Ability to drive process improvement, automation, and implementation of strategic and tactical risk projects.
