Role Overview
Ohana Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support the clinical team, with a strong focus on surgery, anesthesia, and dental procedures.
The role suits detail-oriented candidates who can work under pressure, anticipate team needs, and deliver exceptional patient care.
Position Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with surgical and dental procedures and monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery.
- Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiography, and prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas.
- Maintain surgical and treatment records, guide clients through admission and discharge, and support exams and outpatient procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of patients and the veterinary team to maintain efficient workflow.
Schedule and Employment
- This is a flexible full-time position with either a 5/8 or 4/10 schedule.
- Availability is needed Monday through Saturday.
Compensation
- Compensation is $20 to $25.75 USD per hour for each hour worked.
- A bonus package of up to $500 may be available depending on experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least three years of veterinary assistant experience is required.
- Required skills include safe animal handling and restraint, procedural assistance, attention to detail, protocol compliance, prioritization, multitasking, client communication, teamwork, and dependable attendance.
- The role requires the physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and safely restrain patients throughout the workday.
- A commitment to exceptional patient care and client service is required.

Ohana Pet Hospital is a 14-doctor practice caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, and some reptiles.
The 5,000-square-foot hospital offers digital X-ray, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, acupuncture, cardiac ultrasound, surgery, urgent care, rehabilitation, and holistic medicine.
