Veterinary Assistant

Role Overview

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room and outpatient workflows to ensure patient and client care.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and treatment documentation.
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Support veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care.
• Coordinate schedules and anticipate the needs of the veterinary team and clients throughout patient visits.

Compensation

• Compensation is $19 to $26 per hour for each hour worked.
• Pay within the range may depend on work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Schedule

• This is a part-time position with a four-day, ten-hour schedule.
• Availability is needed Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role is preferred.
• Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments.
• Ability to assist with examinations, treatments, and outpatient procedures.
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs is preferred.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
• Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members.
• Dependable attendance, a strong work ethic, and the physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and safely restrain patients.
