Safety Strategy and Governance
- Develop transportation safety strategies, policies, standards, procedures, governance frameworks, objectives, and improvement plans.
- Develop and continuously improve the Transportation Safety Management System.
- Establish safety responsibilities, committees, escalation processes, reporting mechanisms, and management reviews.
- Maintain safety documentation and assurance records and monitor the effectiveness of safety controls.
Risk, Hazards, and Investigations
- Identify, assess, and manage transportation safety risks and maintain transportation risk registers.
- Conduct operational observations, inspections, workshops, audits, and risk assessments.
- Analyze incidents, collisions, near misses, driver behavior, vehicle defects, and safety observations.
- Establish proactive hazard-identification processes and ensure hazards are assessed and addressed.
- Develop corrective and preventive action programs and investigate complex incidents for systemic causes.
Analytics and Reporting
- Develop safety dashboards and monitor leading and lagging indicators.
- Track corrective actions, performance trends, high-risk areas, and critical safety controls.
- Provide regular safety-performance reports to senior leadership and escalate critical matters promptly.
- Monitor indicators including incidents, collisions, near misses, training, inspections, maintenance, audits, and corrective-action closure.
Change and Stakeholder Management
- Assess safety implications of changes to routes, vehicles, operators, schedules, infrastructure, technology, regulations, procedures, and organizational structures.
- Work with transport authorities, police, emergency services, regulators, operators, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Develop safety training, awareness, competency, and behavioral-safety programs.
Required Experience and Knowledge
- Experience managing transportation-safety programs across road, fleet, public transport, logistics, rail, aviation, marine, or related environments.
- Strong understanding of transportation risk management and safety-management systems.
- Experience with risk assessments, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective and preventive actions.
- Knowledge of driver safety, fleet safety, vehicle safety, journey management, road-risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with safety data analytics, dashboards, leading indicators, and performance reporting.
- Experience managing transportation operators and contractors and working with external stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness, incident response, business continuity, and operational resilience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of public transport, rail, aviation, marine, or multimodal safety environments is advantageous.
- Experience with telematics, driver monitoring, fleet technology, or intelligent transportation systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of UAE transportation and road-safety regulations is highly advantageous.
- A relevant degree and professional safety or transportation certification are advantageous.
- Arabic is advantageous for UAE and GCC environments.
