This is more than a traineeship. It's a 24 month skill development opportunity designed to help you build qualifications, capability and hands-on experience in recreation and outdoor program delivery, while creating memorable experiences for people across NSW.
In this Traineeship Program, you will:
Earn while you learn with a paid traineeship and a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership.
Learn through experience with a blend of structured training workshops, on-the-job learning and hands-on program delivery.
Be supported to succeed through a dedicated supervisor, Office of Sport mentor and external mentor.
Work where others holiday at Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre, surrounded by water, bushland and outdoor adventure.
Build practical leadership skills while delivering programs that inspire confidence, teamwork and resilience.
Experience variety every day across school camps, community programs, sporting camps, holiday camps and special events.
Broaden your experience across NSW with the opportunity to undertake a six-month Program Officer placement across five Sport and Recreation Centres.
Grow your career while learning from experienced recreation professionals and building connections across the Office of Sport network.

Based at Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre near Tamworth, you will work alongside experienced professionals delivering engaging programs for schools, community groups, sporting organisations and holiday camp participants.

Throughout the traineeship, you will combine structured learning with practical experience, developing the knowledge, confidence and capability to deliver safe, inclusive and engaging recreation experiences for a diverse range of participants.
On successful completion of the traineeship, you will have the opportunity to undertake a six-month placement as a Program Officer, gaining experience across multiple Sport and Recreation Centres throughout NSW and exposure to different programs, locations and customer groups.
You are someone who enjoys working with people and creating positive experiences for others.
You may be interested in outdoor recreation, education, youth development, community programs or experiential learning. You understand that this role is about more than activities. It's about helping participants achieve outcomes, whether that's building confidence, developing teamwork, strengthening resilience, supporting curriculum-based learning or creating meaningful community connections.
You enjoy learning new skills, taking on new challenges and working as part of a team. You're adaptable, willing to step into different situations and comfortable engaging with a diverse range of participants, from primary school students through to community and sporting groups.

As a Trainee, Program Delivery, you will complete a structured Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership while gaining practical experience in the delivery of high-quality recreation and outdoor education programs.
Your learning journey will include:
Supporting school camps, community groups, sporting organisations, holiday camps and special events.
Delivering fun, safe and engaging activities that encourage participation, teamwork, leadership and resilience.
Adapting activities to meet the needs of different age groups, abilities and participant needs.
Setting up, maintaining and packing down activity areas and equipment.
Providing exceptional customer service and creating positive participant experiences.
Working alongside experienced staff to understand and apply Office of Sport safety and risk management practices.
Developing skills in communication, leadership, teamwork and group facilitation.
Helping create experiences that inspire people to be active, connect with others and challenge themselves.
